72-year-old Amangeldy Useinov came to the National Center for Neurosurgery with complaints of unbearable pain in the lumbar region, passing to the left leg, as well as leg numbness and limitation of the range of movements.
Doctors of the Department of Spinal Neurosurgery and Pathology of the Peripheral Nervous System of the Center, based on the results of examining the MRI images of the patient, revealed degenerative-dystrophic changes in the lumbar spine: left-sided foraminal disc herniation between the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae.
The doctors of the Department performed an operation for endoscopic-transforaminal removal of herniated disc L4 - L5 of the vertebrae.
According to the head of the Department of Spinal Neurosurgery, Professor Talgat Kerimbayev, the operation to remove the hernia took only more than seven minutes, despite the fact that the hernia was located in a hard-to-reach place. In this case, the doctors selected a very quick and non-traumatic, and most importantly, an effective method of treatment. Usually, with hernias of such localization, a traumatic approach is used with the removal of part of the spine structures, followed by fixation of this segment with implants.
The use of such modern, high-tech, minimally invasive method of treating diseases of the spine and spinal cord can shorten the operation time and improve treatment results, as well as activate patients in the early stages after surgery and return them to everyday life.
The operation was carried out under local anesthesia, in the full consciousness of the patient, which made it possible to activate him immediately after the operation. By the way, all the symptoms that bother the patient completely disappeared.
“I am so grateful to the doctors and nurses of the Department of spinal neurosurgery. I am very glad that I am recovered now. After all, when I came to this Center, I could not walk, my children brought me in a wheelchair. For more than twenty days, I could not walk, I could not fully do any movements. And now I began to walk slowly again, I think I will soon start doing housework. Many thanks to everyone! " - shared patient Useinov Amangeldy.
