Improving of 1.5t MRI for gamma knife treatment planning

Wednesday,  5  Июнь  2024

On June 4-5, the National Center for Neurosurgery improved the resolution capabilities of the new 1.5T MRI device for treatment planning using the Gamma Knife device.

For this purpose, a medical physicist, one of the chairmen of the International Society of Radiosurgeons (ISRS), an independent consultant on radiosurgery (Medical Physics Limited) Ian Paddick (London, England) was invited to our Center. In addition, Mr. Paddick shared his experience on effective treatment planning using the example of current patients with vestibular schwannoma.

It is worth noting that this is not the first visit of a foreign guest to our Center. Last year, the purpose of the visit was to provide our specialists with an advanced course on radiosurgical treatment using the Gamma Knife device, as well as to perform additional settings to improve the image quality of our 3T MRI device.

We are confident that the Gamma Knife team will successfully apply the acquired knowledge and skills in their daily practice to improve treatment outcomes for our patients.
