Neurosurgical care for children with various diseases of the nervous system

The Department of Pediatric Neurosurgery provides assistance to children with various diseases of the nervous system, using modern methods of surgery. The Department treats brain and spinal cord tumors, hydrocephalus, and other diseases. Our experts choose the least traumatic methods of treatment, giving preference to endoscopic operations. The use of unique minimally invasive surgical techniques by the pediatric neurosurgeons, achievements in anesthesia and intensive care allow to extend the indications for surgical intervention and reduce operational risks.

WE TREAT:

  • - tumors of the brain and spinal cord at any location, of any size and severity
  • - cerebrovascular pathology (vascular diseases and malformations of the brain and spinal cord), including arteriovenous malformations, arteriovenous fistula, brain aneurysm, as well as diseases of the central nervous system accompanied by vascular disorders
  • - arachnoid cysts and other cysts of the brain and spinal cord
  • - malformations of the spinal cord and spine (lumbar hernia, lipoma, diastematomyelia, syringomyelia, Arnold-Chiari malformation, basilar impression, pelvic dysfunction of myelodysplastic genesis and other deformations of the spine, accompanied by neurological deficits)
  • - diseases and tumors of the peripheral nervous system, the effects of traumatic brain injury
  • - craniostenosis

DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRIC NEUROSURGERY TREATMENT METHODS:

  • - Microsurgical resection of cerebrospinal hernia
  • - Microsurgical and endoscopic removal of tumors of the spinal cord and spinal column

  • - Elimination of the defects in the structure of the bones of the spine and the skull bones
  • - Clipping brain aneurysm
  • - Roentgen-endovascular embolization of aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations of cerebral and spinal cord
  • - Roentgen-endovascular embolization of cerebrovascular arteriovenous malformations followed by microsurgical resection
  • - Endoscopic removal of cysts of the brain
  • - Implantation of shunt system for hydrocephalus of various etiologies
  • - Endoscopic ventriculocisternostomy for hydrocephalus of various etiologies
